I was 13 or 14 or so and we had gone up to be part of the live audience for "Welcome Back Kotter" at the ABC studios in LA. After the taping we started asking people at the studio if they knew where "The Hardy Boys" was being filmed and one of the guys told us that they were filming over at the Universal Sheraton Hotel.
The dad who drove us to the filming was somehow coerced into taking us over to the hotel. Can you imagine the begging and crying we did for the chance to meet these Tiger Beat stars? Today, it would be the equivalent of three junior high girls getting a chance to meet Zac Efron or Joe Jonas or Zack and Cody.
I swear I can remember the ride over to hotel. We were sooo excited, we screamed the whole way. (Again, that poor dad!)
We walked into the hotel--and there they were.
My sister Gina, her friend Lisa and I actually went up to the stars--Shawn Cassidy and Parker Stevenson--and talked to them, got their autographs AND took a picture. (Yeah, but it didn't turn out. Pre-digital age by 30 years.) We watched them film for a while and then followed them out to their cars. (Gina knew Shawn's license plate by heart for years...I would not be surprised if she still knew it) Getting in the car with Shawn--Jaime Lee Curtis. We thought she was the luckiest girl on earth.
Actually, we thought we were pretty darn lucky too.

That's like the night that Alanna drove to a hotel to see NSYNC.
