Vienna, Austria

We left Budapest around 8:30 and arrived in Vienna just about noon. (Just a slight hold up at the Austria border.) We immediately went to the "heart" of Vienna seeing the Opera House, St. Stephen's Cathedral and the World Famous (and on the "1000 things to see before you die" list) Sacher Hotel. Allison and I decided to have lunch at the Restaurant in the Sacher and--of course!-- it was outstanding! I had a Salmon Salad and Allison had lightly fried chicken with German potato salad. The atmosphere was just charming!
After lunch we wandered some of the streets and shops (we actually came across THREE "H & M" Stores and Allison bought a cute dress.) Then we came across a MOST beautiful site --STARBUCKS-- Allison treated me to a Banana Java something or other and we sat on this warm day and watched the people of Vienna go by.
We are now in our cool hotel room with our down comforters and wireless Internet. Allison is already sleeping...we have about 2 hours before we leave for dinner and the Mozart concert at the Viennese Palace.
Just want to remind you that we are with a group of 37 other people. Besides one 10 year old girl, Allison is among the youngest in the group. I am the among next youngest! The next youngest is probably 60 and off buying dolls and souvenirs for the grandchildren. They are all REALLY nice, talk loud and, most of them KNOW everything. We have come up with "nicknames" for all of them. Some nicer than others. Allison makes me laugh so hard...I am so glad she is along for the trip!
Gonna catch a bit of a nap here and then get dressed up for the Palace!
We'll take some pictures tonight and blog when we get home...
Life is OH so good.

Maybe you can meet up with Anne Fort's exchange student. I think his name was Thomas.

Didn't Thomas pass away a few years ago?
