Back to work!

This is where I work! Not too shabby, huh? It's Montage Resort & Spa in Laguna Beach, and it is spectacular in every way! The resort itself, of course, is gorgeous, and the view is out of this world! But the most amazing part of Montage is the people who work there.

You will not find a more genuinely kind, happy, service-minded, people-loving group of employees anywhere else in the world. I honestly could not wait to get back to work today! (I have been off since December 16) And when I walked in today...I was delighted and instantly reminded of WHY I miss being there so much!
One by one, dozens of co-workers stopped in the hallway and said, "Good Morning, Julie--I missed you!" and "Hi Stranger! Welcome back!" I got hugs and smiles and "Happy New Year"s all the way down the hall! I kept thinking, "I LOVE THIS PLACE! I love these people!"
As I walked into the banquet office, Ray, who is the head of the set up team, jumped out of his chair to hug me and told me how good it was to see me. He got me a cup of coffee and wanted to hear all about my holidays and my trip to Seattle.
I walked out of that office beaming!
I stopped by the Loft Restaurant and Leah, the adorable hostess there, ran around the podium to hug me and said, "Honestly, Julie--I have missed you!!"
And you wonder why I love my job so much? You wonder why it was hard for me to be off for two and a half weeks?
How lucky am I to work with all these people who truly love & care about each other?
I feel like it's the best job in the universe! The team of associates are the cream of the crop when it comes to being naturally loving, caring people! (It's actually been rumored that the entire staff is co-dependant--we really do LIVE to make other people happy!)
I was headed up to the business center, when Robert and Baby Jesus (he's the youngest of the 20 or so guys named Jesus who work there) saw me from down the hall! They both yelled, "Julie--finally you are back!" After a couple of big hugs, I could feel my heart beating, I couldn't quite figure out what I was feeling. I was overwhelmed!
I turned to go with tears in my eyes.
As I walked up the stairs, I figured out exactly what it was I was feeling.
It was a sense of belonging, so strong...a feeling of knowing I am exactly where I am supposed to be. I belong right there. With those people.
And it is such a great feeling.

hey, did you know that if you're looking for top of the world park and you don't really know where it is, you can call your place of business and pretend like you're a guest that just left the hotel looking for the park, and they will help you find it? it's true. i did that.
