Miracle Grow

I bought some shampoo that is supposed to make my hair grow thicker and longer and stronger. Today as I was using it, I thought of this doll...
Crissy's hair "grew" and then you could wind it back up and make it short again.
Remember her sister too?
Velvet. She had the same miraculous hair-growing abilities....

Zonk the salt

"Nanny and the Professor" is one of those shows that was only on for a couple of years when I was a kid, but for some reason, I think about the show every once in a while and even remember lines from individual episodes. I don't think it's ever even run on Nick at Night or TV Land, it was a classic in my book."Nanny" was kind of like Mary Poppins--she wasn't magic, but mysterious things happened when she was around...

Cal Worthington (and his dog spot)

I was just watching the Ducks game and a commercial featuring Cal Worthington came on! Dear Lord, I cannot believe that he is still around! So I googled Cal, and guess what?
He is 87 years old!

Remember the commercials? "Here's Cal Worthington and his dog spot." Only "spot" was never a dog. It was usually a tiger or a bear or an elephant.
Apparently Mr. Worthington's ads have worked well for him. He grosses over $300 million each year as the largest single owner dealership chain.
And he's still doing the commercials at 87. I'm not sure what happened to spot.
Sing it with me, "If you want a car or truck go see Cal...if you wanna save a buck, go see Cal..."
(Allison, you can sing the Pat Sajak version!)

diet coke with bacon?

I went for a facial on Tuesday and the woman there told me I had to stop drinking diet coke immediately. She said it was sucking the oxygen out of my face, thus causing wrinkles. If you know me at all, you know that I live on diet coke. Tell me it causes cancer, brain damage or hemorrhoids--no problem.
But wrinkles!!
I haven't had one in FOUR days...

The funny thing is...when I went to find a picture of diet coke to post,
THIS picture came up!
What the heck? Does this seriously exist? With bacon??
Maybe they are trying to make it easier for me to quit.

"So, what do you do for fun?"

I was asked this question today from a guest at the resort. It was weird, cause I didn't know quite what to answer. I thought for a second right after he asked and all I could say is "I spend time with my friends and family"...dorky, right?
So, on the way home I thought...I know what I do for fun and I know what my blog for the day will be:

"What I do for fun" By Julie Hibbard

I dance.

I eat good food.

I travel.

I go to baseball games.

I look through old photo albums.

I hang out with my family.

And my friends.

Then I was thinking.
I really don't "do" anything to have fun.
I am always having fun.
Life is good.

Milo and Otis

I watched this movie yesterday while I was ironing...
It's hilarious. This is another one of those movies that my kids and I watched over and over again when they were little. Allison used to say, "Milo, don't step on the chickens!" in a perfect English accent.

...hear me roar

I just changed the water filter on my refrigerator.
I know, I can hear you thinking...
"IS THERE ANYTHING THIS WOMAN CAN'T DO?"
Hmmm...I don't think so.
