Dr. Jones and me

Tonight I spent the evening with an old friend...
It's almost May 22

Remember Mom!

This Sunday is Mother's Day!
Remember YOUR mom.
And your Grandma.
Trust me...it will mean a lot to them!

Just JACK!

I have just returned from one of the most enjoyable evenings EVER. Courtney and Ange and I have been trying to get together for months...and we finally made it happen tonight at Chili's! The conversation was full of "remember whens" and questions about where we are going!
There was LOTS of talk of living alone, taking care of ourselves and wondering if God really does have some sort of plan in all of this. What's He waiting for?
Beer and chocolate certainly help the contemplations...
We actually celebrated ALL of our birthdays tonight as well!
Beer and chocolate certainly help the celebration...
Life is long. I will say that til the day I die
(probably at 115 like Edna)
It is hard. It throws you curve balls--daily. And just when you start humming along enjoying the ride--someone comes and slaps you back into reality.
Tonight, we talked about all the things that seem to make life unfair, unenjoyable, unexplainable. But we also talked about things that bring INCREDIBLE joy to our lives! Things that make us smile, laugh, close our eyes and remember how great it is to be alive!
Seriously...it was a great conversation.
And an amazing evening.
These are two fabulous women!
I mean three.
And the beer and chocolate ain't bad either.

Songs in the key of life

Last night, the music at the restaurant was SO GOOD. Of course the company was great and the food was terrific...but the tone for the night was set by the constant influx of incredible songs! As I walked in Billy Joel's "Piano Man" was playing...then "Something's Happening" by Peter Frampton. Soon we had heard songs by Eddie Money, Elton John, Maroon 5, The J Giles Band, Journey, Queen, John Mayer, John Mellencamp, Tom Petty and then..."ROXANNE!"...
Seriously, it was the best mix of music I have ever heard at a restaurant!
There is NOTHING like GREAT music!
We haulted our conversations many times over the evening to 'name that tune'...and the artist...and then tell the story of going to that concert...
Ahh...my most favorite of all kinds of memories...

Let's get it started now...

With Kelly and Sharel at the Yard House tonight!
It was an early celebration of my birthday...
(AKA a reason to get together and drink and eat!)
Elisa, Kelly and Sharel...
we reminisced about the Boone's Farm at Crater Park...
(I'm gonna go jump in a Crater...see you later!)
Peach Apple Cobbler and Strawberry Cheesecake...and Elisa's fork.
Among my thoughtful gifts...
and the perfect pet!
I spend most of May going out with friends to "celebrate my birthday!"
Being with all these people is the greatest gift of all...

Things I learned at Costco today

1. Besides books and the industrial-size bottle of Patron, there is very little that a single person really needs to purchase at Costco.

2. Despite #1, it was quite easy to spend $132.

3. I am beautiful. And thin. And my clothes match.

Wake up...can you smell your coffee?

Today as I was filling up my gas tank, I watched a man (with big hair) come out of the AM/PM (or whatever Shell calls their little store) with a large cup of coffee in his hand. He set the coffee on top of the car (you see where this is going) and fidgeted with his keys to open the car door. Then he got in.
Yep, his coffee was on the roof of his car.
Really? I mean, he wasn't even getting gas! He was parked in a regular spot and obviously went in to purchase a coffee...and then he didn't realize that he did NOT have it in the car when he drove off?? REALLY? I was not about to flag him down or wave at him. I am sorry. You're not a smart person. You deserve what's coming.
It reminded me of when Allison and I were in New York a couple of years ago and we saw a man driving with a Starbuck's cup on the roof of his car. Allison yelled out to him, "Hey, your coffee is on top of your car!" He slowed down next to us and rolled down his window. Allison went to grab the cup...and it was stuck to the roof. The guy said, "Thanks for letting me know about the coffee. I work at Starbuck's...here's a $5 gift card for being so kind."
So there you go. Leave it to Starbuck's. It was a very creative Publicity/Advertising stunt.
I guess I should have done the same for the man today.
Instead, I watched as he turned out of the gas station...the cup falling to the street, spilling coffee all over the roof of his car.
Really? You didn't even wonder why you were leaving the gas station? What you had stopped for? That you totally wanted a cup of coffee?
I gotta admit it. I laughed.
Of course then I realized that it had just cost me $53 to fill up my tank.
Guess I could have used a $5 gift card to the little gas station store.
I could have bought a 40 ouncer or a bottle of Boone's Farm...something to drown my sorrows.
Either way...I sure as hell wouldn't have left it on the roof of my car!
