Walk this way!

I've mentioned many times that my job has me RUNNING all day long-- taking care of guests all over the resort, making many trips down the LONG halls and often making the trek down to the lawns, restaurants and bungalows.
I have ALWAYS wondered just how far I actually walk each day...
Wonder no more! I bought a pedometer and began wearing it today.
Are you ready for this?
Today I walked 21, 613 steps.
The pedometer calculates that as 10.2 miles.
I have two thoughts:
1. NO WONDER I am exhausted when I get home each day.
2. Why in the hell am I not thin?

I know you too would love this!

Went to see the U2 3D movie at the Imax Theatre last night
...absolutely spectacular!

I am The Birdman...coo coo ca choo

Last Friday when I was meeting my friend for dinner down in Newport he said, "If you get there early, you can go visit with The Birdman." You know me, I got there early, but sat in my car and read instead. Tuesday afternoon, while visiting another friend in Newport, I saw a unique looking man outside of her home and asked about him. She said, "Yeah, that's our neighbor...he's The Birdman!"
I figured it was fate.
Apparently, The Birdman (his name is actually Ski) and his birds have been colorful fixtures down at the Newport Pier for many years. Though I had never heard of him before...I am grateful to say that now I know him well. And the birds too.
We were invited into Ski's home to meet the birds personally...
I even got a kiss out of the deal!
Let's see...a bird in the hand is worth...yeah...
Can you read my mind in this shot? I am thinking, Hello!...that's my $65 Abercrombie sweater he's digging his claws into (as well as my flesh for the love of God!)
Thankfully, Eliane just kept snapping pictures--PRICELESS!
Seriously, it was quite an exciting experience.
I really do have a fun life. Ya never know WHAT'S gonna happen next!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Please sing with me--you know the tune!
Take me out to the ballgame
Take me out with my dad

Pay 50 bucks for a parking space

Worth more than that for the SMILES on our face...

Now it's HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Papa!

We wish for you a great day...

For it's sixty seven candles atop

the bright OL' birthday cake!

Go ahead...make my day!

My 94 year old Nana is one of my favorite people in the world. Eliane and I visited her today. She is ALWAYS so happy to see me...even if it's been a couple of weeks since I've been there. She wants to discuss the Angels and the Dodgers! She tells me that I am her favorite grand daughter and reminds me that she is praying for a wonderful (Catholic) man to come into my life. And she always tells me to stop losing weight...that I am getting too thin! (Who am I to argue with my Grandmother?)
The cat on her lap is "JoJo"...a stuffed animal that 'lived' at my Grandparents' house my whole life (and my kids' lives too!) My Grandpa used to make little cat sounds and 'talk like a cat' in a really high voice as if JoJo was alive (and talked?)...we played along forever! Today, as Nana held JoJo, I missed my Grandpa. He's been gone for about a year now. I did the little high voice in his honor...God bless JoJo

Alone again, (un) naturally...

My friend, Eliane, has been staying with me for the last eight days. It's been a long time since I have "lived" with anyone! Here are a few thoughts--the bad and good things about having someone in the house again.
THE BAD
  1. Sharing the pot of coffee.
  2. Having to talk to someone in the morning.
  3. There's someone eating my bananas and drinking my milk.
  4. There's someone at the house when I get home from work.
  5. There's someone who wants to know what 'the dinner plan' is.
THE GOOD
  1. Sharing a good cup of coffee.
  2. Having someone to talk to in the morning.
  3. There's someone buying my bananas and milk.
  4. There's someone at the house when I get home from work.
  5. There's someone to make a dinner plan with.
Eliane flies back to Ohio tomorrow afternoon--(home to Jerry, the love of her life.)
Me? Well...I do like drinking the whole pot of coffee...
Other than that...being alone is seriously over-rated.
