Reach out and touch someone

Last night, as I sat in the bathtub with my Corona contemplating the strange events of the weekend, I received a phone call from one of my favorite people in the world. (Yes, I always have my phone with me--even in the bathtub. Hell, if I could, I'd have my laptop in there too.)
The call came at the absolute perfect time--I was deep in thought, wondering where I'd gone wrong, why I was hurting and what my next step would be. (I call it '$2 therapy'--sitting in the dark, soaking in the tub and sipping on a beer.) Within minutes, my friend's happy heart and healing humor challenged my perspective, cheered me up and completely changed my attitude!
There are just a few people in the world who I feel 100% comfortable with. Those who can truly relate to me, know me--GET ME--and with whom I don't watch what I say! To these few and far between folks I share what I feel, what I think, and all I really am. And the best part is that they do the same with me! It's those people who honestly 'know everything about you and like you anyway...'
This perfectly-timed call came from one of these people. A little listening, a lotta laughing and I was able to let it all go...
It's one of life's greatest treasures to have friends who let you rant and rave...and then make sure you know that you are being ridiculous.
Thanks for the JOYFUL therapy, dear friend.
It was absolutely priceless.

Let the birthday celebrations begin!

Age is a question of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.- Satchel Paige

You know I don't mind.

The celebration of my birthday takes place throughout the month of May. The kickoff begins tomorrow morning for breakfast with an old friend and continues Tuesday with my high school buddies for a little 'clicking of the glasses' as I join the "Classic 45s" club!
It's kinda like celebrating Hanukkah-- eight crazy nights--and a morning or two here and there!

My son, Zachary, will be graduating from Loyola Marymount University this Saturday morning.
I told him that it was the best birthday present I could receive!
He let me know, by the way, that it's my Mother's Day gift too.

Looking forward to an exciting month!

Sunday Morning...no rain falling

I LOVE BEING OFF ON SUNDAY!
I worked every Sunday in April and I missed this SO much!
There are raspberries, peaches and bananas in that big bowl of granola, the aroma of Italian roast coffee is dancing with the Counting Crows in the kitchen and I am enjoying every moment! HUGE smile on my face--and in my heart--this morning.
Did I mention that the Dodgers have won 8 straight? Oh yeah--just an added bonus.
Life is (SO DAMN) good
