Lately I've noticed SO many people carrying these HUGE handbags that look more like a weekend carry on!
Come on, how much stuff do you really need to bring with you when you go to lunch?

Cherries Garcia

Tonight I walked into Ralph's, and as I started to get a cart, I realized I was only coming to get one thing, so I picked up one of those baskets instead. FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE! Anyway,I strolled over to the ice cream section, where I debated flavors, caloric content, fat intakes and price (in that order) and ended up with Cherries Garcia frozen yogurt (a very small one). When I got up to the check stand, I put the carton on the belt and put two of those "dividers" around it.
Then, a woman with two young kids and a shopping cart OVER FLOWING with groceries got in line behind me. She started to unload her cart, as her kids were asking for gum, M&Ms, breath mints and Hershey bars...when she suddenly stopped and glanced up at me. I smiled at her.
She said, with much humor in her voice, "Look at you there with your little ice cream...Lucky you."
I thought about telling her that I had spent 20 plus years with over flowing shopping carts and kids arguing over cereals and flavors of pop tarts, and had had my fair share of "clean ups on Aisle 5"...
But, I decided not to. Instead I told her that the last four episodes --including the series finale-- of 'Six Feet Under' were waiting for me at home, and that all I needed was a tasty treat to go with it.
...lucky me, indeed.

Bacchus' Secret Cellar

I met a few friends tonight at Bacchus' Secret Cellar a new wine tasting bar in Irvine. Bacchus' boasts a considerably diverse selection of wine, exceptional and unique appetizers and we lucked out tonight, cause there was live Flamenco Music Group playing. We were all there to celebrate Sharel's birthday, and it turned out to be an out of the ordinary and very delightful evening. In addition to the large number of wines, they carry quite a few unique beers as well! I had a Stella Artois, which is a DELICIOUS beer I had enjoyed when I was in Belgium last year!
Yeah, OK..I had two.

The full moon...

One of my favorite parts of going to work at 5:30 in the morning is the once a month treat of the full moon. For some reason, the big beautiful moon just makes my heart beat! As I come over the hill on Crown Valley and head down to PCH...there it is...BRILLIANTLY HANGING over the ocean, sparkling and shining on the water in ways most people have only seen in a picture. It's just spectacular!Today, there was an added bonus...it was the Copper moon--big bright and Orange-- because tomorrow night, March 3, 2007, there will be a full lunar eclipse...try to check it out!
Of course, if you miss it, you can always see the next one. In 2025.

How Great is Our God?

Today I got on the treadmill at the gym and turned on my ipod as usual. I have a WORKOUT play list that I walk and run (and sing!) to. But apparently, I accidentally scrolled to the WORSHIP play list instead cause "How Great is Our God?" came on. At first, I picked up the ipod to put on the correct play list, but a sudden FLOOD of memories filled my mind with THIS SONG! I decided to walk for a bit and just listen.
I remembered Tent 3 FILLED BEYOND CAPACITY many Thursday nights at Crave...and THIS SONG--being sung by 500 plus college students--echoing through the tent. I remembered sitting in service and listening to a man near me belt out THIS SONG loudly, with passion and from his heart. I remembered sitting for the first time at my new church and THIS SONG being the first one we were all asked to stand and sing.
I pushed the back button and played it again. I confess, it's been a very long time since I played worship music at all. I have not been very worshipful this last couple of years. I continued to listen and wipe away a few tears, thinking of how incredibly patient God has been with me during this time. Blessing me, regardless. I continued to walk through "My Glorious!" and then RAN to "Our Love is Loud!" Remembering Taffy LAUGHING up on stage! Then, "Indescribable" came on. I ran a bit and sang it in my head. But I had to stop and walk when I sang the line, "You see the depths of my heart and you love me the same!" The depths of my heart are not all that pretty... they are a bit scarred up and not quite healed. And He loves me the same.
I turned off the ipod and just walked and I even talked to God for a little bit. I began to feel that scrolling to the wrong play list wasn't such an accident after all...How great is our God?
