If you build it...

This was at the "Gingerbread House" class at Montage this week.
I remember the first time my kids and I made a gingerbread house. They were about 6 and 8 and I must have spent $5o on candies and cookies and supplies to make a beautiful house and create a special memory for us!
But I just could not get the frosting to be the proper consistency and we could not get anything to stay together--nothing would stick! I re-made that frosting three or four times, making a total mess and wasting a lot of the candies and decorations. I was frustrated and the kids completely lost interest after their "roof" kept falling to the ground.
In an attempt to salvage the remains of the project, I remember getting out the glue gun...and I remember thinking that this would also be the last time we ever built a gingerbread house.
But that day has been a fun memory!

I've never built one with my kids. I just think there would be ants all over it in the morning.

We are on our 3rd one so far this year and yes we are having the same problem. Any solutions from the Montage School of Gingerbread House building department?

I never built one as a kid...maybe my mom tried it with my older brother and had a similar experience and decided never to do it again!
