DODGERS LOSE AGAIN???
There is, indeed, crying in baseball.
(Seriously...this is just painful.)

September 30th at Home Depot...

Found this gem among the plethora of Christmas offerings...
Jon Garland is pitching for the Dodgers tonight.
I think it's a sign.

Code Blue!

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD....LET'S DO THIS!

Guess who's coming to dinner?

oh yeah!

The plain, the plain...

I am in a super SELF IMPROVEMENT mode these days...just trying to figure out how to best use this vast amount of time and energy I have been given toward becoming a better person. I've made lists of things I want to do, want to learn, want to become. And as part of this, I am also clearing out, cleaning out and cleansing every part of my life.
There is one thing I definitely had to take care of right off the bat. On too many occasions I have written the woes of my tattoo. To be very blunt at this point: I absolutely hate it. What it looks like, what it represents, what it reminds me of. Hate it! It's really not the tattoo...it's how it makes me feel. Not a good thing.
First goal of the self improvement process: a fresh, clean, plain, smooth, ink-free (and memory free) lower back.
I am having the tattoo removed.
I will be paying dearly--financially and painfully--to get this done, but it will be well worth it. It will cost nearly ten times what I paid for the tattoo, (what a lesson, huh?) and it will hurt like hell. During the first treatment yesterday I almost cried...I could not believe the pain! And it is still hurting today. It's swollen, red and very tender...
But one small part of the tattoo is literally gone.
I am told it will slowly go away. Very slowly. The process will take at least 10 sessions and the sessions must be done six weeks apart. (Yeah. The 2010 World Series will be history before this damn tattoo is!) One down, nine to go.
Interestingly enough, 'become a more patient person' is another of my self improvement goals. So there you go.
It's a kick start to my fresh start.
I just know that I can be a better person!
(It's not just a fantasy.)
Smiles everyone, smiles!

Arrgh!!

The Pirates are killing me.

To the postseason!

The Dodgers will be going to the National League playoffs for the fourth time in six years! They clinched a National League playoff berth on Saturday night when they defeated the Pirates 8-4. (You still have the Steelers, Jay!) Joe Torre has now earned a 14th consecutive postseason appearance as manager, tying Atlanta's Bobby Cox for the all-time record.
The playoffs will begin on October 7th.

And I will be there.

If you wait for perfect conditions,
you will never get anything done.

You picked a fine time to feed me Lucille...

Our last big night with the family before Allison heads back to Kenya.

My Nana died a year ago today...just a few weeks short of her 95th birthday! She was always such an encouragement to me. She taught me to be patient and she told me to rest. She insisted that learn to save money, keep a clean house and lock my doors. She told me to use Oil of Olay.
We would talk about her childhood and my childhood and my children....and about baseball! She would always tell me that I was thin enough and would make me a sandwich. And she constantly reminded me that I was so young and that I had so much life ahead...
She was always just so happy to see me.
I can't believe how much I miss dropping by to visit with her.

Don't ya think?

While moving a few things out of Allison's storage this morning, an ironing board literally fell out of the storage unit, landing at my feet.
Bending down to pick it up I asked, "Are we taking this?"
She answered, "Yes! I have actually moved that ironing board from one house to the next and then into the storage and now we'll take it to my new place!"

She continued, "Of course I've never actually ironed anything on it. OH the IRONY!!"

I love her.

It all works together for good....

I am getting ready to go meet Allison and help her move some things into her new place today. She's moving closer to her great new job--and will be about a block from the beach too! On top of it all, she's heading back to Kenya next week--for six weeks--so we'll have to move the rest of her things when she gets back and can get settled into her new life in Corona Del Mar!

Can I just tell you how much I love this woman? I know it sounds crazy, but I always kinda feel like we grew up together! Though I think it should be against the law to get pregnant at 18, I gotta admit, it can actually work out pretty nicely. Especially in the long run.
I am so proud of who Allison is (and actually has always been...): an amazingly wonderful, life-loving person who's happy and friendly and funny--and always a blast to be around! She's an incredibly hard worker...and whether she's in Kenya or Newport Beach, she is working to make the world a better place...and, always making people smile.
She is someone that I truly admire.
How lucky am I?
Life is good today.
Yeah, every day.

Oh, I asked for one...and enjoyed it immensely! (Nonfat, no whip!)
Oh man...soon there will be pumpkins at the supermarket (and on my front porch!) and pumpkin soup and pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread and pumpkin ice cream!
